Senzo Meyiwa trial pleads not guilty
Senzo Meyiwa trial indicted maintain not shamefaced as Zandile Khumalo takes the stage
As the trial of Senzo Meyiwa’s alleged killers eventually renewed in the Gauteng High Court in Pretoria on Tuesday, Zandile Khumalo took the stage as the first State substantiation.
The trial started with the prosecutor, advocate George Baloyi, reading out the charges against the five men indicted of the murder of the late Bafana Bafana and Orlando rovers goalkeeper.
The five men- Muzikawukhulelwa Sibiya, Bongani Sandiso Ntanzi, Mthobisi Prince Mncube, Mthokoziseni Maphisa and Sifisokuhle Nkani Ntuli- are on trial for premeditated murder, tried murder, thievery with aggravating circumstances, possession of arms without a licence, and possession of security.
Their former trial was annulled after High Court Judge Tshifhiwa Maumela, who had originally presided over the matter, was suspended by President Cyril Ramaphosa.
Asked by Judge Ratha Mokgoatlheng to maintain, the indicted said they were contending not shamefaced to all the charges.
Zandile is the family of Meyiwa’s gal at the time, chanter Kelly Khumalo.
She was also in the house, which is their maternal home, in Spruitview, Vosloorus, where the late soccer star was killed in what’s believed to have been a thievery gone wrong.
Meyiwa was killed on 26 October 2014.
As Zandile bear events of the cataclysmal day nine times agone , she appeared calmer and further composed than the former time she witnessed.
Zandile said they started the day at the home which Meyiwa and Kelly participated in Mulbarton.
When they left, the plan was to drop off Meyiwa and his friend, Mthokozisi Thwala, at one of Meyiwa’s teammates’ party- but, when they arrived there, the party hadn’t started.
” So Senzo and Mthokozisi went with us to Dorothy Nyembe( cantina ) in Soweto, where Kelly had a performance,” Zandile told the court.
After the performance, she said they drove to another house, where Meyiwa said he’d to drop plutocrat at a friend of his mama ‘s.
They also went to Katlehong, where Thwala’s home was. also they progressed to drive to their home in Spruitview, but stopped at the near tavern to buy drinks.
When they arrived at their home, they set up their mama cooking regale.
Zandile said she had invited her swain, Longwe Twala, who had before asked about their whereabouts.
